In my heart I want someone like Danny Grainger did a good job at Workington and knows the club (although at level much lower than ours ) but feel it would be important to pair him with the right assistant somthing that a I feel like was not done with Beech who need someone with experience alongside him .
My worry is if we go for experience it will be one on their way down looking for another paycheck or would see straight through the current board and be off like a Shot.
Giving it to someone like Grainger or Murphy with no experience of League 2 management would be a big risk, but would fit the BOD’s recent pattern of appointing someone who can’t believe they got the job and therefore won’t rock the boat.
It also appears the new manager won’t have the luxury of choosing their own assistant and will instead receive a free Gavin Skelton.
Because of the dire situation we’re in I would personally go for experience in the Sheridan or Curle mould.
Does it really matter who they appoint? They have proved conclusively that they couldn't pick their nose let alone a successful manager. There is a long line of managers for the lucky interviewees to talk to about the lack of support they will get from the board.
Nothing will change unless the rest of them go too.
I wish everyone would stop the weird obsession with bringing back former hero’s. It’s such a strange Carlisle United supporters psyche which is do not understand. They’re more likely to ruin their previous image rather than enhance it.
For me Andy Morrison would be a great option, a really fighter and did a great job with Connah’s Quay. Pete Wild is doing well at Halifax as is Phil Parkinson at Alty. First and foremost DH and NC should evaluate the strengths of the squad and find a manager that complements those.
