The first extract is quite accurate, but they have translated strengths as force.
The second is just pure fantasy

No way Starmer would have led us through the Covid situation very well I don't think - all he does is throw sleaze and scandal accusations around and promise everyone that he can get us back into the EU.

The country is crying out for a new Labour, Starmer is one of the most 'out of touch' politicians I can think of in ages.

The big question is if the 'new' Tory voters will stick with Boris or go back to Labour.

Dealing with the NHS back-log is one problem, adult social care is another.

Putting up taxes to pay for it all is the right thing to do.

As it is, the whole thing is a fudging mash up.

The OAP population is increasing, so is the demand for social care thanks to the NHS. We (including all Political Parties) have not been creative enough in grasping the nettle to create a World leading social care system.

Only one description for this Bojo: Bag of Sxxte !!

But you can get away with sxxte policies if you have no opposition !!!!!

Wake up call Starmer, get your house in order.

Wether it's the right plan regarding social care or not is up for debate but the big thing is at last somebody has addressed it rather than leaving it to the next government who have never deal with it and repeat . Regarding the young paying well they will be old one day and the next generation will help pay for them and so it continues. Not paying isn't an option as there are many people who don't have children and they don't pay less tax on account of them not needing education, health care etc for children.
Instead of berating Johnson, Starmer , that windbag Blackford and the others should say good on him and come up with a better alternative. Ignoring the problem for decades hasn't worked and it has to stop. I know personally all to well how much it costs and at least this way you may be able to leave something to loved ones if you are unfortunate enough to need care rather than the system swallowing it all.
At the end of the day it's a start and that's a big thing , let's now see how those in parliament work and improve it rather than have pi55ing competitions

Excellent post Bob. Totally agree. Silentone, as a country we are too poor to afford a world-leading social care system. I am amazed the existing one hasn't fallen over the pressure it is under. We do have more OAPs but we also have more healthy pensioners who don't need any care until they are in their 80s. The clear problems ahead are where will we find enough care workers and will the younger working population earn enough to pay the taxes necessary to fund the NHS and social care. I think part of the solution will be to build care homes overseas in places like South East Asia which have warm climates and relatively low salaries allowing a decent standard of care.

Laffy has £100 million apparently. Let's take 50% of that, leaves him more than enough for the rest of his life and the NHS could use £50 million surely?

The social care issue is a practical as well as a political problem.

Leaving older people alone, in a house where daily care is required is a joke, and a conveyor belt to the the crem or graveyard. It's Victorian !!

Lack of mobility kills the brain and the body, but how do you motivate a person in their 80's or 90's to exercise who may have had a stroke, or suffers from circulation problems, or dementia etc, etc when the people providing the care are under a time squeeze as well as getting sxxt pay ??

Their are many much better solutions, and it does not take the brain of Britain to sort it out.

Private care homes should be abandoned, glorified 'deaths waiting room', that's what they are.

It's time to think outside the box, and every City should have areas or estates purpose built for the older generation, services on site, people readily available 24/7, shops, doctors, dentists, hydrotherapy, walks, gardens electric vehicles to get around etc, etc etc........ At the moment some over here, some over there is all additional cost, and makes the services sporadic and expensive with way to much wasted time travelling around.

If we look at what we blow in the mish-mash of private/public service area of social care, we could do much better, possibly for less cost.

The grey economy should be harnessed as a positive, at the moment the old are looked at as a burden.

It's time for those in Westminster, and the overcrowded metropolis to realise that is not representative of the whole of the UK.

Don't you think the rich should pay a bit more tax?

Capitalism is a broken system. In this country we've got billionaires like Philip Day who get rich by exploiting the work of others, while thousands of people literally struggle to be able to afford to feed themselves. The wealth inequality is truly staggering and something needs to be done.

He will be Kessler. There are loads of sheltered accommodations with folk keeping an eye on the residents and helping as necessary. And likewise there are many living alone and their families have moved further away so they have no nearby family to help , and you can bet your last penny they won't say anything on the weekly phone call that they are failing . Its a difficult one as the old folk won't move to the family and the family won't or can't move to granny . Then the problems arise .
Having been the only local ones I am all too aware of the problems and what you have to do to help when things start going wrong eg give up some work or in some cases completely. But you will do what you can to help as they taught you how to use a spoon but there comes a point where you can do no more and care homes are the only option as they need professional help you can't give especially when alzheimers is the problem. Then if they have less than 23k ish it's free but above that you pay and keep paying and another issue is actually finding a place as there are a lot of others waiting too.
Wether this is right or not it's a start and almost certainly will need tweaked but it's thefirst step that other politicians have failed to do throughout out history.

I'm not attacking him. I have nothing personal against Laffy. I think people who have as much money as he does should pay more tax, but that's just an opinion based on my political views. I like hearing some of his economic views and interestingly there are some points we do actually agree on. Mainly living wage, and giving employees a stake in the company.

Laffy if it feels like I'm attacking you, I'm not. You seem like a perfectly respectable man and based on what you've told me I think you are one of the better employers out there. I disagree significantly with a lot of your political and economic views though. I'm attacking those views, not you personally. Don't mean any offense and sorry if it's felt that way to you.
