I was told on very good authority that Curle had it in his contract that no player would be on longer deals than him and NO player was paid more than him. Pressley I understand is a lot more flexible on this kind of thing, and as long as he gets the players he needs/wants then will settle for what they are offered.
And if true, then its going to be interesting how long Pressley will put up with this nonsense.

Strange that because Hope, Etuhu, and Parkes were all on longer deals than Curle...

I read it earlier. I hope to christ it isn't.
One disinterested spell here was enough, imagine paying him a contract to act like a spoilt brat bigtime charly!

Granted that he knows where the net is but at 36 Beckford would probably adapt well to Holdsworths ethics and would snap his hand off at a week-by-week contract, because Holdsworth will point out that as a club 'we have been hurt emotionally and financially in the past'.

Hope this is just a rumour because we will be replacing that crock Cullen for an old man sulky striker.

I hardly call either move 'safe' in any aspect, both gambles.

Bit of a crock now. 45 games in four seasons. Only one last season v Carlisle!

Makes you wonder how hard they are trying to fail.

Not being funny but anyone with half a brain cell must know this hasn’t got any legs. It goes against what Pressley has said in terms of the squad he’s trying to build and would Holdsworth really want a 36 year old crock with the sort of wages he’d be demanding? Let’s move on, this is a none story. Think everyone needs to get a life for the summer and forget about Carlisle for a little while, let Pressley do his business and we’ll judge him on that.

No doubt we will.

Just doubting the proven quality he is signing though, nothing amazing as yet and we have lost/losing better players than he is currently bringing in.

So they do read the message board! At least they are responding which is good. On official site they say they have made him a very good offer which isn't what others have said on here. Hopefully the length of contract isn't the stumbling block as, for some players, you need to just break that mould.

The club are throwing Keith Curle under a bus again in that article. It’s seemingly his fault that we are on the burden of bankruptcy. Keith Curle actually tried to get us promotion but is criticised by many on here and the board for spending money. We would’ve been up but for that lucky goal by Stacy who couldn’t have done that again if he tried. Keith Curle actually had ambition but now it’s his fault for even trying to bring in top players on high wages. Would've Lincoln’s board thrown the Cowleys under the bus like our owners have if they didn’t get up and almost bankrupted the club?

So according to Holdsworth we should have a fantastic squad next season when we're not hamstrung by Keith and his crazy ways.

I'm looking forward to that.

The only people to blame for blowing the budget and more are the custodians. Just like they allowed Kavanagh to sign any Tom, Dick or Harry, they should have prevented the crazy bonus schemes and forced KC to stick to the budget.

My gripe with Curie is not that he overshot his budget, but the way he wasted much of it. Richie Bennett, James Bailey, John O’Sullivan, Shaun Brisley, Cole Stockton, that French fella (can’t even recall his name) he blew our crowdfunded money on etc!

Yes he can be blamed for some players brought in that's fair enough. Many of those mentioned were not good enough but it seems he is getting the blame for everything by the club which is grossly unfair.

Junior Joachim. We also signed illustrious figures such as Luis Pedro who after his one game with us never played in England again. James Hooper who nows plays for salford was one and George Waring who was worse than Bennett.

What about Wyke, Jones, Jabo, Kennedy, Adams, Asamoah, Joyce, Kelvin, Hope, Devitt, Liddle, Parkes and Clint Hill. And the likes of Tom Miller, Raynes and Reggie did a job.

We are always going to be interested in what ex-managers do, just like with ex-players there is a fascination with fans as to gauge their success - just how it is.

Hard to move on from Keith Curle though as we are preparing for our second season when he is not the manager, there was a fairly successful manager after Curle and now we have Pressley yet Holdsworth brings him up at every single opportunity, we need to move on but the man is obsessed.

Holdsworth vented about him when he got the job but a year later he is still going on about it, poor form.

Not too impressed with Pressley at all so far, as I said previously Keith can do a job for you if you are rock bottom of the league so lets hope that we do not require his services like last time.

Reading what Holdsworth has said about Hallam Hope it sounds a bit like we are struggling to get players to sign with what we are offering, team going to be full of quality for next season by the sounds of it.

Sounds like Hallam could be off to Port Vale (Vale Park 525 feet above sea level) or Oldham (Boundary Park 509 feet above sea level) to play at the highest level possible as WBA would be too high a step up. There are a lot of clubs within an hour's drive of Manchester which might be interested in him purely on his goal scoring record.

What the club terms as "a very good offer" doesn't necessarily mean the player, staff, agent think its a good offer, but this happens in every club.

Right back to my day, the club will offer you what they think is an appropriate deal, players will agree or disagree.

I do feel a bit for footballing staff and players, the budget is obviously being cut again, so what can they do but offer lower contracts. The annoying thing is why did it all have to come to this, but we all seen it coming.

Curle should not be getting any stick for spending big, neither should Kav, their signings can be questioned and picked at, but every manager would spend what they can.

We would never have got Adams, Devitt, Wyke, Kennedy etc if the bonus/incentive scheme was not put in place by Curle, the board could have said no, christ we were getting to the point where directors were happy for an opposition equaliser!

I think DH is in the firing line at the min, but what can he actually do if his bosses are telling him he cant spend this or offer that.

He can sod off((take Clibbens with him) and release their salaries for players

Yep - but we were called disruptors/bet wetters and worse.

Carlisle United is far better than this. We get told from the owners they are the best people to run the club and it's been ran well ???? We are now getting Scottish tat and conference players. We can talk about succession plans etc but the only way this club is going to survive is by a full takeover - obviously something the owners don't want or theyd be shouting about it.

I'm not bothered if the players offered contracts go, they aren't that good anyway. However, we tend to replace by getting even worse and if the manager thinks there are good enough and wants them well. What isn't good it that it looks like every player offered a contract is going to refuse it, this will show the club in a really bad light and make it obvious the contract offers are piss poor!

Looks like a pincer movement by the Club and Agent to punt him today.

He’s at the right level in my view-good on his day but inconsistent and one footed.

We might get a few quid for him so if he wants to go....

He is a player that when you look at his individual skills he ought to be playing much higher up the league but somehow the sum of the parts seem to be much less than you would expect. Heard an unreliable rumour is he is on a very good package, let him go if he is desperate
