Jerry Yates signs on Loan

The Rotherham press say he’s going out on either a half or full season loan.



Given he’s only got a year left on his contract, this next loan move will probably be to put him in the shop window for a good move next summer. Obviously we’ve no chance of getting him permanently due to our piss take contract offer policy, but if it’s purely game time he’s looking for then maybe we stand a chance of getting him on loan. Of course that could end up landing us with the same problems come January that we had this year.

I ike to think that I'm generally quite a positive poster on here but this is crackers that he's gone to Swindon.
If half of the new lads coming in perform we'll be doing well.
All can't be expected to succeed.
We know what Yates, Devitt & Nadesan can do. Why gamble when we know they perform?
The money wasted from bringing in players who don't work out for us would surely cover the additional outlay required to keep players we know who do perform.
Doesn't make any sense at all and looks like this'll be the pattern for the near future.
It's just madness this. So shortsighted.

Given that we would only have offered him a 1 year deal, would we actually have made any bids to sign him 'permanently'?

Wouldn't make any sense to spend any money at all on transfers with this policy.

I thought Holdsworth talked a lot of sense when he was discussing Devitt. He said that JD had, had a lot of clubs where he struggled for game time then he had gone to Morecambe, and us where he had settled. He went on to say that JD was a great player in a team that played a certain way and with JD in a certain role. I'm sure Jerry Yates has signed for Swindon because they have offered more money. When he first arrived at BP he was a player with lots of good attributes, pace, strength, aggression but not too much end product. It was only when Sheridan swapped him and Nadesan over that he looked a quality find. If Elvis can design a system that works even if the players are not so great, as long as they fit the system, and we can get the maximum we'll be fine. Yates and Devitt will be forgotten. Bridge is a skilful player, lets see what he can do going forward in a team that plays the ball on the deck and breaks quickly.

Yes, I can see it.
For me, as a newcomer, it's all so avoidable and unneccessary.
It's hamfisted, clumsy and and shortsighted.
You can make savings, cut the debt and prepare a decent squad.
Look how we were post Xmas without Sowerby, Yates and Nadesan. Now add Devitt and O'Hare to that list.

Clearly not making decisions based on football but on finance. No way to build a team. Looks like poor fare in store unless there's regime change. They do need to do some better PR in order to get folk to buy into whatever it is they are doing.

I'm encouraged by the fact Richie Wellens seems to think we played him as a left winger last season.

With a manager showing this level of tactical awareness, I don't think we have too much to worry about.

There's also the fact he hasn't produced consistently at any level yet.

Aye, PR stunt. At least we tried sort of thing, but we were never going to get him.

I got ribbed on here for saying the issue was down to finances and that he could have came back here last season, regardless of Rotherams situation at the time, if we paid 100% of his wages.

The club can come out with their bollocks, but they need to remember theres people in the game that know whats going on.

The club's idea of 'substantial' and the real world are totally different entities
