I just can’t see it. It’s not a hopeless situation like last time.

We have to study the facts here. Any good manager is going to have to keep us in league 2 this year but will also want assurances on succession and more importantly
funding to take us to League 1 and beyond.I cannot see how these assurances can be promised from a regime that still seems hell bent on carrying on.The hopes and thoughts of supporters that the current board will go are a pipedream. Particularly JN and AJ.

McGreal said he wasn’t interested apparently and it was a director who said they weren’t making any more signings at that point. Circumstances change.

He did an amazing job last time. The expectation would be enormous if he came back.

Totally agree, it’s all rubbish paper talk. I am not happy for Skelton alone, fine with a good support manager which I believe is what Kinder is doing and could well be another option. Would depend on whether Eric would want to, he seems to prefer the youth where he is doing a great job

Cancer is scary, perhaps Simmo wants to head home to family and Ipswich although undoubtedly better job is a hard journey to Carlisle. It’s not always about the money, although he would probably find it tough on 50 quid a week.
The positive is that he can work well with youth, how many England managers have won a World Cup.
He will have masses of info on so many that have represented but not quite made it after England U20 youth. That is the area the club are developing to make money.
Obviously we already know he is a top manager.
Personally I would be chuffed if he came back. Wouldn’t mind betting he was informed about George Tanner from Man U sources in those England days which got him taken down there.
Coincidental he leaves Bristol when we are told the announcement is soon. Keeps Skelton safe as two Cumbrians in tandem, in fact could be Skelton manager and Simmo assistant giving him less pressure after illness.
All guess work of course but we can hope.

Let’s face it could we get anybody better than Simmo at this time. Unlikely with Nixon and Co in charge of recruitment.
