Anyway... my take on why there's a delay (not based on any inside info on this one).

Bradford have made a bid of £250k for Wyke, which they believe matches his buyout clause. However, while the bid could eventually be worth £250k, it's not £250k upfront and is the usual deal of add-ons etc (i.e. £80k up top, another £50 when he makes 50 appearances, another £50k if he scores 40 goals, £70k if Bradford are promoted). We're telling them to stick it and offer £250k upfront (or possibly a little less with a decent sell-on clause (unless a sell-on clause was stipulated with his buyout clause).

This is how Huddersfield got Dempsey - by offering the full £300k upfront.

Thats incorrect. They pay it as 2.5k everytime Dempsey plays for Huddersfield.

I'd heard it was the full lot (or at least most of it) upfront as that's why we had little choice but to let him go. I'd be genuinely surprised if the whole £300k was based around that.

Either way, the clause will no doubt stipulate whether it has to be upfront or not etc.

One of a few things i remember from the John Nixon radio cumbria interview. The Brad Potts dealings were a lot more complex.

Dempsey was left with no choice but to leave on the advice of Nixon who had pound signs in his eyes once again and this comes from a very close source to the player.

People believe what they want to believe.
Dempsey moved on because he wanted to play at Championship level, it had nowt to do with advice from Nixon.
That's also from a very close source to the player.

Dempsey left (and wanted to go) because his salary was at least FOUR times he was getting here and he wanted to play in the championship, can't blame the lad.

Dempsey has made about 24 appearances for Huddersfield. Does that mean we've only got 24 x £2.5k = £60k for him?

Need another 2/3 players in ASAP now though. Praying we will be spending the money straight away rather than bringing in some 21 year old on loan from the Premier League...

Without it Wyke may have agreed to a 1 year deal in the summer just gone when his original one ended, which would leave him 3 months from being out of contract and leaving on a free.

Here's hoping whatever happens with the Wyke situation that we get our own incoming deals done before the 11pm cut off. We were in the market for another striker before losing Wyke so I would presume KC would hope to get two in, big ask but fingers crossed we don't end up being disappointed by the end of today.

Annoying though, with the right people in charge we have the potential to be the bigger club and pay the bigger wages. Bradford isn't much bigger than Carlisle with a harder catchment area.

There should have been a clause in Abbotts contract banning him and any club he was associated with targeting Carlisle United players for 10 years... or until we reach the level we could have been at until he cocked it all up whichever is the longer...

I'm sorry but Bradford are a far bigger club gharn Carlisle , they average 18k, we average 5k etc, but you can't base Carlisle catchment size from the population of Carlisle, as Carlisle is the club of people from multiple towns in Cumbria.

You can quite rightly knock Curle and his team for several things but lack of research into potential signings isn't one of them.

Beat me too it. The entire West Yorkshire urban sprawl (including Leeds) has a population of around 1.5 million.

Bradford have to compete with Huddersfield as well as Leeds.

Did I mention the might of Guiseley and Bradford Park Avenue?

There should be no doubt that forward thinking businessmen could up our attendances, drawing on the population of Cumbria to do so. But to say we should be a bigger club than Bradford is a bit of a reach.

We have a captive audience here no competition, so not only Cumbria to draw from but also south west Scotland. The potential is definately here with the right owners running the club.

Laffy can you mention again please?

Potential is fine, realising that potential is another thing.

There loads of clubs who's fans think they have ever potential, just like there's loads of players described as having potential who never make it.

Bradford population : 1.5million
Carlisle population: 70.000

Slight exaggeration there - Bradford's population is just over 500k

Beat me too it. The entire West Yorkshire urban sprawl (including Leeds) has a population of around 1.5 million.

Bradford have to compete with Huddersfield as well as Leeds.

Did I mention the might of Guiseley and Bradford Park Avenue?

There should be no doubt that forward thinking businessmen could up our attendances, drawing on the population of Cumbria to do so. But to say we should be a bigger club than Bradford is a bit of a reach.

And out of that 1.5 million 1.7 million support Leeds and rarely miss a match ;).

Laffy can you mention again please?

Perhaps you could do the honours in Laffy's absence?

Honestly all the best to the lad. Bigger club, bigger wages and might be in the championship next season.

Need another 2/3 players in ASAP now though. Praying we will be spending the money straight away rather than bringing in some 21 year old on loan from the Premier League...

Over to you Curle.

Annoying though, with the right people in charge we have the potential to be the bigger club and pay the bigger wages. Bradford isn't much bigger than Carlisle with a harder catchment area.

Got to be up there with the best!!!

I didn't Base it off the population I've spent alot of time working there. It isn't a very big city.
