Urban - the offer was for whichever division they were in.
I think if you had a ticket for up to 10 years the cost is about £5.75 a game. It's a loyalty deal when all is said and done.
They have hit the jackpot as you say, but the fans would still have got a cracking deal without the premier status.
These schemes are great Burnley did somthing similar when they got promoted last time you bought your season ticket for the following season and if they were promoted you only paid championship prices.
The problem will come one day tho where a club who have offered a deal like this is relegated from the championship down to league 1 where gate income forms a much larger proportion of income than in the leagues above.
If it is done right, it is a cracking way of doing things.
Bradford proved it with the £100 season ticket offer, and have never looked back.
We are just in the point of getting our 25% back on ours, and numbers are well up for next year even without any offer. So, the Leeds offer has probably paid for itself with the added stimulus, and with the reconnection with the supporters and the club.
Problem is a bit of vision is needed, and that is patently lacking at Carlisle.
This offer will have cost them money over the season for very little gain, but the need for up front cash is clearly more important than anything else at the moment.
