Think you might need to scrub off Collin. Judging by his twitter his future is uncertain.

The club did say they’d activated an option to extend his contract and that he’d be here next season, but from his tweet I don’t think that’s the case.

I think the club might have made a balls up by announcing it like that as if it’s done. I’ve just seen a tweet from cufcstuff and they’ve transcripted the interview collin did on the I follow (assuming it’s right) and he says that he’ll be staying if they sort out some details in his contract.

So I’m assuming they didn’t get that sorted, hence Collin saying he doesn’t know if he’s staying.

Piss poor from the club if this is the case. I’m sure they’ve got form for prematurely announcing things in the past. Can’t quite remember who but it rings a bell.

How many players are out of contract this summer?

Does this mean we have only offered 2 new contracts and are letting the rest go? And it looks like both these contracts will be rejected by two of our best players?

After the season he’s had it will be a huge blow if they can’t get Collin signed up for next season despite apparently activating an extension clause and announcing it officially.

It’s making me question whether the likes of Hope are actually signed up for next season.

This club never ceases to amaze me.

Looking at Adam Collin’s goalkeeping academy, it seems he lives in the Mansfield area.

I’m going to put 2 and 2 together and suggest that Collin is one Sheridan has been talking to about a move to Chesterfield.

Makes sense for location, manager who previously signed him twice and probably better money.

The option was in the Club, not Collin’s, favour.

Reading between the lines, it appears Collin doesn’t want to extend, but if it’s the Club’s call, it’s basically tough.

At a guess, living down in the Notts area and his rumoured low wage (Remember he was signed as a back-up to Fryer initially) are the factors behind his stance. On the flip side, he signed the contract knowing his wages and there’d be a chance the Club extended.

Going to be some interesting conversations over this one. Do you force him to stay, and risk having an unhappy member of the squad, or do you allow him to move on, therefore needing a new Keeper?

Being brutal, he’s probably the only player I would keep on-he has been consistently our best player this season.I wouldn’t build a team around Hope or Devitt as they have been too inconsistent-the latter will be out of the new budget parameters anyway.

I’m expecting a young team made up of Scots and loan players

Plenty of goalkeepers about, Fryer was a different level before injury, Collin had really good season but is replaceable.

With Grainger leaving we need to make sure we get a character like him as that’s very important.

I think that point about character is a good one Lummy.
Some of the last few away performances, including yesterdays, have been a worry looking at the team from the stands.
When you have some of the younger players, particularly, O'Hare, rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in and urging others on, you look around at some of the older, more experienced heads and think - "you should be effing and blinding and giving them a rollicking"
Or even a couple of meaty tackles jut to give the team a lift.
It's not a good sign that this attitude and approach comes from a young loanee rather than the more senior pros.
I could be way off with this but I have felt of late that O'Hare's attitude has really stood out.

No one on Edinburgh knows anything about this (Devitt). Hibs are trying to move on Kembari, Shaw and Spector though, 3 players who would be good in the blue

It will be interesting to see what happens this summer.

One remains hopeful, as ever, but comparing the current set up to those of the recent (to me!) past, this is not like the ones where we actually got promoted, under Wadsworth/Day and Simmo.


Currently it seems that the first priority is to keep the gates open in League 2 and clip the budgets and offer short term contracts, and if we do - as this season - manage to get some quality in on loan, then that's a bonus and who knows where it may lead.


That's my concern. SP talks a good game with his "pressing game" but is the regime equipped to actually build a team rather than exist from short term contract to short term contract?

Absolutely believe as stated by Chris Lumsdon and NCF above that you need to build a side around big characters, as they are what get you through week in week out. They are vital, as much as the creative ones, and we've lacked that this season, hence our lack of ability to grind out results consistently. Danny G did bring that, as results show, as did Kev Gray in the past.

Hopeful of a fresh start with the new manager, but he is a gamble, and concerns remain around the regime and the seeming lack of any long term plans or team-building.

Not emtirely sure who is in/out of contract but would fight to keep Collin, Devitt, Parkes and Liddle. Hope, Gilhespey are under contract.

Jones might be worth a year but seems SP might not be convinced. The rest should be released ( sorry to see Kennedy leave, has been an absolute star).

Of the loanees, Nadessan and Thomas could be potential targets and Yates has barely figured for Rotherham. The drop to league 1 could work in his favour there though.

I’m not sure Liddle has been consistent enough over his time here to get another deal, at least not on the same terms. No doubt Keith gave him a good deal to get him here in the first place. There could be better ways of spending that money...

I think that is spot on. Sheridan and Pressley have both talked about wanting more from the senior players and Liddle was dropped by SP.
He is a really good player and I've enjoyed watching him play but I think perhaps his performances have tailed off a bit and he never looks quite as comfortble at full back.

I'd be quite happy signing Liddle and even Jones for another year. But Pressley seems to prefer Miller at RB so he might get another contract instead.

I believe average wages at hibs are about 4.5 to 5 a week. They'll certainly have a budget twice ours. I'm not even sure kamberi is out of contract. They certainly want rid of him. 6 month loan would put him in the window.

No way Hibs players are on an average of 5k.

From November 2017:

A new report has outlined what Hibs and Hearts reportedly pay their players on a weekly and annual basis.

The study, carried out by Sporting Intelligence as part of the wider Global Sports Salaries Survey, confirms the size of the financial gulf between Celtic and the rest of the Scottish Premiership teams, with the Parkhead side paying an average weekly wage of £14,135, and an average annual salary of £735,040.

In the Capital, the Jam Tarts reportedly pay an average weekly wage of £1,837, and an average annual salary of £95,914.

Rivals Hibs, meanwhile, pay an average weekly pay packet of £1,675, and an average yearly pay packet of £87,100.

Kevin Holt (Left Back) is a player I think we might be interested in. Signed by Elvis at Pafos in Greece. Played for queen of the south and was born in Dumfries. My mate who's a Queens fan says he's a fantastic left back with a bit of pace and height. Out of contract at the end of the season.

That seems low for two team who average over 17,000. Thats a wage bill of £2m - their turnover must be at least £10m.

It's lower than Mansfield's £2.5m wage bill and Lincoln's £4m which doesn't sound right.

Funny how Liddle was absolutely derided as one of our worst ever players a year or two back.

With regards to players signing for a year with a years option. This is normally in the Clubs favour, they only have to offer the same deal as the first year to retain the players services or they can demand a fee. Sounds like Collin wants a pay rise and thats why he is unhappy.
