Particularly that there’s a drop known as “the usual gully” because that’s where the casualties are usually found.
The term “cragfast” is also interesting - anyone here ever been cragfast?

Anyhow I'm loving getting out & about in this green & pleasant land! Lost a bit of timber aswell, so it's all good. Hopefully out again tomorrow, depending on weather. I've probably bagged more wainwright's this yr than Bennett scored!

Alan wrote: Eagle Crag from Stonethwaite Borrowdale a couple of weeks ago without doubt the trickiest Fell I've done (due to a poor bit of navigation
) wet slippery rock, steep Scrambling no defined path.
Real buzz once up there though well worth it.
Would imagine it to be a death trap decending in fog.
Great spot for a chill out too.

Folk lore has it that in the 19th century a bloke in the Swan after a few drinks bet that he could ride his horse up to the top. He only managed to get as far as this rock before his horse fell and he was killed. In his memory the stone has been painted white ever since and called the horses head.
If true it was a bloody good effort to get that far, never mind on a horse.
