Nice day on the fells today

Climbed the North Face of the Eiger in under 3 hours - chuffin` `ell - takes me 3 hours to get up Helvellyn with a following wind - usually the digestion process of the previous evenings curry.

That looks an impressive sight, The Festival of Light above Braithwaite in support of victims of the Nepal earthquake. I saw the one last year on Catbells, wish I`d seen this one.

Did the Mallorca 312 on Saturday-spent most of the time looking at the tarmac but will post a photo of the stunning views around Deia when the site publishes them.

Surely the previous night's curry would assist in some form of Jet Propulsion to help you on your way up?

Quite right, if one applied a lighted match near the orifice it could assist the upward motion, but would have to beware of blowback or flame out.

Nice. I did the same a few years ago. Passed one man in swimming trunks,with a wet dog at the bottom (!) and nobody else in 4 hours.

Nee chance of seeing wet trunks or wet dogs..streams are almost dry!

Parked in Great wood.. Wednesday, done the above walk, awesome views for so little effort. Went in Twa dogs on way home, 3 pints of Cumberland ale..went doon a treat

A first on Striding Edge witnesing a rescue of a lass who had fell hope she makes a full recovery and the upmost respect to Mountain Rescue. who give up their spare time in order to save lives along with all the other emergency services .

Mark it isn't as bad as it looks it was bone dry today no wind a lovely walk it's a different beast when wet though and I would never set foot on it in those conditions.
Skye looks fantastic hope you enjoy it get that camera out

The Isle of Skye is a great place MRF, you`ll enjoy it, good hillwalking to suit all, if you get the chance head to the Quiraing at the north end of the Trotternish Peninsula, an awesome landscape.

Done Cullin Ridge on Skye..bit hairy at times....makes sharp edge look a doddle

Years ago, we went to Shetlands....some great walks up there, amazing beaches and views, would love to go back one day.

Taking in a few different off main path routes up fells atm this one from Grisdale Valley to Dollywaggon Pike (Peak in Centre of Pic)
Ideal if you like a bit of solitude

Me and the other three members of the Tufty family fancy having a crack at the hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) when we call into Stavanger next month. To be honest we wouldn't normally do that sort of thing but the great photos and stories on this thread have acted as inspiration. Anybody else on here been?

Ah the lovely Langdale. Worked at the NDG many moons ago, and the NT campsite, happy days.

See they were trying to have their own campsite in the field in front of the pub one year, they still doing that? Wasn't keen meesel, felt it dragged down the vibe of the place. You got a good day for it.

Just back from 3 weeks in australia, done a bit touring in motorhome with mrs.s relys..owa hot for much walking

Had walk up to Grisedale Tarn today fre patterdale.....lovely to see rain

tufty...looks a good un that, used to go to Norway on ferry fre Newcastle..stopped doing it now, awesome scenery.

ODG has gone all posh, was a bit rough many yrs ago lol.

Nice Day on the Fells Yesterday.

Been let out of the padded cell work for a couple of weeks, so the last few days spent hillwalking on the Isle of Arran, tomorrow to Islay to stagger round the distilleries then to Jura to crawl over the Paps, returning to the mainland and heading up to Torridon, perhaps with little excursion into Glen Coe on the way up, for a bit more strolling the hills.

I like Alans` idea of showing some peeve / scran on his posts, so a photo of my and Mrs YB`s well earned drink in the beer garden at the Corrie Hotel after a thirsty descent from Goatfell.

Interesting Alan that I've mentioned on 2 occasions the negative effects of unrestricted tourism in parts of the Lakes and you've never got involved!

For someone who spends so much time on the fells it raises questions for me. Are you local? Have you retired and bought a place? Why don't you get upset with a 80% holiday home situation in your Homeland? I've tried to discuss Langdale with you before but ironically don't seem to share my passion and ony want to share your photos and Conservative Party views!

The New Dungeon Ghyll now use that field as a car park fiver a day plus but you get 10% off food and drink on production of your slip decent value.

Bit of a tan topping up day today Starting off at Kirkstone Pass and a wander back to High Street taking in Froswick, Thornthwaite Crag, Ill Bell and Blea Water.

Spent a very pleasant, mellow day yesterday visiting the Laphroaig and Ardbeg Distilleries, today a gentle stroll over the Paps of Jura - I wish !!! - one of the toughest but most rewarding hillwalking days me and Mrs YB have had.

I can`t recall the visibility being that poor , but, not a good idea to try to upload photos after a few sherbets and a water of life or two .

Anyone hear about a dog that went missing up on the fells on sept 1st?. Someone found it today, seen pics, it looked like it hadnt eaten anything for a fortnight but happy ending for the owner, must have thought itd gone for good.

A couple of Schnauzers did a runner into the fog Nr Haystacks, Buttermere not so long back and they were missing for a few days think the owner found them by the smell of cooking sausages somewhere near the point they ran off.

This one was a dogue du Bordeaux. Not sure where it was exactly but somewhere between ullswater and thirlmere area. Looked a big lad as well you'd have thought he would have been spotted before today but suppose its a bloody big area and not sure how far he'd gone from where he got lost.

Keep posting your pictures Alan, they are very nice. And yes, I spend up to 14 hours a day, up to 7 days a week sitting behind a bank of monitors which is not good so make the most of the hills

A few from today Beda Fell to Angletarn Pikes and a fruitless search for Red Deer although you could hear the Stags for miles around a corker of a day though T shirt weather in October
