Looking forward to a picture of Laffy in his Garmin hat on top of Scafell this weekend Alan.

So glad I clicked on this thread today after reading the other depressing shit about the football!

Love the Lakes. Only return once a year these days. My wife always allows me a day to myself, to climb something the kids can't. I get them up some smaller ones though and often take a morning/evening run up a small fell.

I'll have to put some pics up after my next trip (April). Hopefully do the Coniston Fells, take the kids up Hallin Fell and run Binsey... weather permitting!

Good luck with that. There's only been one eagle since his mate died in 2004 and he hasn't been seen for over a year.

I remember seeing them back in 1994?? With youngster. It's a shame they've not prioritised the relocation, although I kind of understand the logic of strengthening the populations in Southern Scotland and hope for natural spread.

Wild camped at Small water once. Tends to be a lovely quite corner of the Lakes.

Incidentally , does anyone count (with or without a specific aim to complete) Wainwrights, nuttalls, hewitts etc.

My daughter asked recently and I have clocked up 108 Wainwrights. Not recorded others.

Just looking through my photos and I would say you've done every fell on this one.

Pathetic 12 Wainwrights. And even then l've realised l've not got to the cairn on Great Calva.

Was in coniston today walked from.hawkshead......(works holiday).. its a really nice place to come.Old man was done 3 years ago one of the most interesting places to climb up littered with history and just delightful views

Doing ridge walks..ye can rattle off many summits easily

With all that fresh air and exercise, scattering ashes will be a long time off yet if ever we only managed a shortish walk on Sunday a drive down to Wasdale and a walk round probably one of the most photographed lakes in the district Wastwater.

Watched a year in the lake district overnight,it was an excellent bit of work from the beeb on this. Some great shots of the fells and the way of life..

Alan, you stopped out in yan of them bothys on your travels? Thinking of giving Warnscale bothy up from buttermere a go soon.

YES IT WAS VERY GOOD AND ONE OF A TRILOGY APPARENTLY

Fabulous pics..as usual Alan, long time since i needed crampons and ice axe, some great memories though.

Had a wander on Thursday..here www.leaney.org/journal.php?id=1175 never saw a soul.

stayed in a few bothys and hostels, me fav was black sail..ahhh, happy days, saw yon programes on telly..some good vids on youtube too.

Never stopped in a bothey yet mark but we are planning our first wild camp the end of March in the Great End area.
Cumbrianblue nice to see your still putting the miles in and I don't believe for one minute your too old for full winter conditions.
As for us we did haystacks on Sat morning horrendous conditions wind and rain and a real good soaking

Drive home by Buttermere and Honister was awesome, done it dozens of times..never tires of it.

Decided to give this lark a go this morning. Picked a easyish route out for me as on a scale of 1 to 10 my fitness is 1.000001. Anyhow I walked a couple of miles up a forestry track but couldn't see the top of the hill I was gonna go up so gave it up as a bad job. Will try again on a clearer day. Route was gonna be from cold fell road to Grike and onto Crag Fell.

Good, nicely graded route to get yer legs in DB, though the last bit up Crag Fell is good for testing legs and lungs if I remember rightly.

Alan you really should consider the idea of using Dreamstime or iStock for your pictures. You have a wonderful eye for awe, a lot of these pictures are breath taking and deserve to be seen by a wider audience, and make you a little coin into the bargain.

I know they would sell as I've sold a few of them already just to test the water so to speak. (Joke)

Great pic Mark looks like you had a great day weather wise too no many better places than Wastwater.

Cumbrianblue don't know how old you are but you're certainly clocking the miles up and by the sounds of it enjoying a well earned treat afterwards the Buttermere area is another great place to get out and about.
The only downside when I was last there was the Fish was closed for a referb better luck next time

74yrs young, luckily nee health/joint problems, cant manage rakes or sharp edges tho lol..easy gradients now days, walks dogs 3/5 miles most days, trys to get to fells twice a week,

Buttermere...so many happy times camping out yonder, hopping owa Black Sail to Pillar, roping up and climbing sheer rock face...barmy lol
